Marvel vs. DC this year

I had been thinking of writing this review sometimes ago after I had watched the stunning masterpiece "The Dark Knight". This year has been a wonderful year for both Marvel and DC with the release of Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight.


The first blockbuster that came out by Marvel this year was Iron Man, though my first impression towards Iron Man when I first saw the trailer was like, seems nothing interesting. What I can say is probably because the trailer doesn't seems to have the attractions. But after I have watched it, my judgment was wrong. I was quite amazed with the robotic technologies that it shows every single moment of how Tony Stark build the Iron Man. Moreover, compared to any other Marvel series which are mostly a remake, this time Marvel just brings us a brand new and all time favorite superhero, Iron Man to cinema. With the running time of 2 hours 6 minutes, it doesn't make me feel the movie is dragging but instead entertaining. The overall of the movie can be describe as "cool & awesome!"

Followed by the release of The Incredible Hulk, the change of director from Ang Lee to Louis Leterrier was a great move, at least it won't make you see the idiotic comic style with multiple scenes in the movie. The complete replacement of characters in this Incredible Hulk doesn't seems bad either, Edward Norton who plays as Bruce Banner vs. Eric Bana back in year 2003 was doing great in the movie. Not to mention Liv Tyler is hot! with the role of Betty Ross. The re-designed of Hulk is more realistic, probably is the different of present CG animated compared to year 2003. Overall of the movie is above average, but somehow the plot of this movie at the ending part seems a little confusing with the appearance of Tony Stark. Is there a continuation with the Iron Man vs. Hulk? We never know, perhaps we shall see in the near future.

Last but not least, the most outstanding movie of the year thus far, which scored the #1 movie in IMDB (as of 25th July 2008), goes to "The Dark Knight" by DC Comic. Firstly, director Christopher Nolan had a tremendous improved on his camera angle and plot sequences compared to previous Batman Begins. This time, the plot is awesome, with the psychotic Joker plays by Heath Ledger, the most outstanding Joker I ever seen compared to Jack Nicholson back in 1989. it drives the whole storyline to heart-pounding actions, followed by the death of Rachel Dawes in result by the twist made by Joker to Batman. And the rise of Harvey Dent as Two-Face with anger after the death of Rachel. It's just full of excitements.

Not to mention, my all time favorite Christian Bale plays as Bruce Wayne once again is the most suitable character for this role. He has been my favorite ever since I watched The Machinist (2004), followed by a few hot titles such as The Prestige (2006), Rescue Dawn (2006), 3:10 to Yuma (2007) etc. He just cool! He's the next actor I would like to see after Nicholas Cage. For those of you who also like Christian Bale's movie, just for your info, he will be stars as John Connor in the upcoming Terminator 4: Salvation! Get a glimpse of him in the Teaser at the ending part of the teaser.

Marvel & DC both are doing great this year, the upcoming movies by both of them will be The Punisher 2: Warzone (Marvel) which will be air somewhere around December & Watchmen (DC) in year 2009.
