A much anticipated movie of the year has just out in the cinema since two days ago and it's been a very huge crowds and queues very far away from the ticketing counter. Perhaps, even if you queue there won't get you any tickets. These days, most of the people are smart, they purchase online/they buy in advance. So for those who haven't catch this show, better choose in between the two options.
Come back to the review as I have just watched this film last night. I am one of the people amongst millions who are much anticipating this movie, but after the show, it just gave me a word of imperfections/dissatisfaction. For those who haven't catch the show, you may stop reading from here on as I do not want to spoil your mood or probably this film considered very good to you. What I am about to critics is purely my perceptions and I still prefer the 1st Transformers.
Points to highlight:1)
Camera angle - I can't deny Michael Bay's signature technique, that is capture with shaky camera style, but in this film.. it is way too shaky and you can't seems to catch some of the scenes properly, especially when Devastator merging with other Decepticons scenes. Same goes to some of the fighting scenes.
2)
Close-up scene - Everyone knows the main focus of this film is to see how cool the vehicles transformed into a robots. But in this film, I wonder if you guys realize it, they are cleverly using surrounding objects to cover up their transformations, typically you can only spot how Bumblebee transform and that's about it. The rest, only see legs (Optimus transformed in military base), or close-up scene where you can't actually see what it is.
3)
Un-ended scene - Alright, Michael Bay cited that in this film, there will be more actions. Indeed it is, but it is way too much things happening at the same time until it lose focus. In the sense where you will never see a scene end while it started. E.g. The Twins autobots were fighting Devastator half-way, a military chopper got shot down and crashed in the middle of their fights, and they continue the scene with others then come back with Devastator climbing up the Pyramid. Where are the Twins? are they dead? No more telling about them even the ending credits appeared.
I can't exactly say this is a total worst/no-good film based on the above points mentioned, the plot in this movie is good so far, but the action scenes isn't clear enough, it's just not perfect enough to score movie of the year title. If I were to vote, I would go for Terminator Salvation. Perhaps I have watched way too much of action films and probably my demand is a bit high, but nevertheless, you can catch this show and it's worth to join the crowds and anticipations.
P/S: Most importantly, I like the part where Optimus merged with Jetfire. ^_^
